Warm-up for the High Holidays with some lessons from Mishnah. This class is usually offered in Aug-Sept.

Come join the whole community to bake challah together! We will mix the ingredients and braid the dough, then take it home to finish rising and bake. If you don’t know how to bake challah, we’ll show you. It’s easier than you think! We will provide ingredients.
This is an annual activity, usually a few days before Rosh Hashanah.

You’ve learned to read – Hurray! Now learn what you’re saying.
We are going to learn some vocabulary that is very common in the prayerbook. We will focus on words found in the prayers you are most likely to recognize, such as Sh’ma, Amidah, and Aleinu.
The lessons will be short (30 minutes) and give you a foundation for identifying familiar words.
Prerequisite: You must be able to read Hebrew.

Not for converts only! Whether you’re exploring Judaism for the first time or reconnecting after a long absence, this course is for you. This is a 24-week course, beginning in the fall. Students in this class must also attend Learn to Read Hebrew, unless they can already read. Contact Lynne adultedchair@tbsev.org if you missed that class.

This project has been created to provide tutoring, mentoring, and guidance to our members to be able to lead parts or all of our Friday Night and Saturday Morning Services. Our target audience is post-bnai mitzvah and older in age.
Prerequisite: Hebrew reading and some singing ability are a good starting point.

What’s happening up there on the bima? What do I do if they call my name? This is a hands-on class. Practice opening the ark, “dressing” the Torah, being called for an aliyah and more.
